This new course is designed to provide young shoppers with an orientation program to gain knowledge and practice of basic retail and mathematical concepts used in shopping.
Both theory and practice will come together in the simulation lab, where the young trainees will have the opportunity to practice and perform the following concepts:
- Determine needs versus wants
- Create a budget (daily, weekly, etc.)
- Create a shopping list within budget amount
- Locate items on a shopping list in a store (understand store layout)
- Compare similar items to make a proper selection
- Present goods at point-of-sale
- Give the appropriate amount of money and determine correct change
- Use appropriate retail language (asking for help, directions, questions, manners)
